We place people at the heart of what we do.

Every day, we open our doors to help people feel comforted and well-supported when it comes to their hearing.

We do this by providing the most informed and personalised care.

Shire hearing is a family-owned and operated business, and we’re proud of this.

Hello, we’re the people behind Shire Hearing.

Our team.

Rachel Dorman
Director and Owner

Rachel founded Shire Hearing Centres in 2008 while raising her two young children. Over the years, she has successfully grown the business and now employs a dedicated team. Although Rachel now runs the clinic part-time, her primary focus is on empowering her staff to provide compassionate care to those seeking hearing rehabilitation.

Following the loss of her husband, who was also a director, in 2020, Rachel has become even more determined to succeed. Her efforts are a tribute to his memory, and she knows he would be proud of the work she continues to do for their family and the community.

Rene Chang
Audiologist

Rene is our Audiologist who works between all of our clinics. Rene completed her training at Macquarie University, earning a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Sciences and then completing her postgraduate Masters in Clinical Audiology. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Practice and is fully accredited with Audiology Australia (AA). Rene started her career specialising in adult hearing rehabilitation and hearing aid fittings and has since expanded her experience and interests into paediatric testing and cochlear implant rehabilitation.

Rene shows true empathy and understanding to each client that walks through our doors, acknowledging that everyone has their own unique story. She takes the time to explain the whole process to make you feel at ease throughout the journey. From the initial consultation, trial to the fitting of hearing aids, she makes sure clients are well informed.

Understanding that it is a huge decision for some to walk through our doors, Rene makes clients feel comfortable from the first minute the consultation starts. Rene’s soft and funny nature is a huge hit with children, especially when testing can sometimes be challenging.

You are guaranteed to always be greeted with a warm, friendly smile from Rene.

Peter Smith
Audiologist

I retrained in hearing many years ago and have enjoyed using digital technology to bring back clear hearing to people who have been struggling with communication.

Previously I worked as an optometrist and it has been interesting to see the parallels and differences between these two important senses.

With my wife, three children and a grandson, I am keenly aware of the importance of family time and hearing conversation easily.

It has been my privilege to apply my efforts to ensure that people can enjoy these simple pleasures that can be so easily impacted by age or injury.

Come in and see us soon - Peter

Krystal Allen
Audiologist

Introducing Krystal Allen, a dedicated Audiometrist whose journey from experiencing her own hearing loss due to otosclerosis inspired her to embark on a path of healing and empowerment for others.

Motivated by her personal struggle, Krystal pursued Audiometry with unwavering determination, redefining her life's purpose as a clinician.

With a heart full of empathy and a passion for making a difference, Krystal thrives on reconnecting individuals with the symphony of life's sounds, enabling them to cherish moments with loved ones once again.

Her favorite sounds? The infectious laughter of her son and the effervescence of bubbles in her champagne.
