Full Diagnostic Hearing Assessment.

You can book in for a comprehensive hearing assessment or you may be eligible for a free assessment through the Australian Government’s Hearing Services Program (HSP).

Some people feel quite nervous about a hearing test as they are not sure what it entails or what the outcomes may be. Below is an idea of what to expect when you visit our office for a comprehensive hearing test.

Our friendly Audiologist will perform a full diagnostic hearing assessment. The following tests will be conducted;

  • Otoscopy (A visual inspection of both ear canals to ensure it’s clear of wax or any other blockage).

  • Air Conduction Thresholds (A tone is played through a set of calibrated headphones)

  • Bone Conduction Thresholds (A special device is placed near your ear and vibrates gently)

  • Speech Testing (We’ll ask you to repeat words back to us)

  • Tympanometry (A small instrument is placed into each ear, which tests your hearing)

The hearing assessment will take around one hour. We do encourage family and friends to attend the appointment to ensure that it is not too overwhelming when explaining the hearing test results. If needed, one of our friendly Audiologists can call any family members who are unable to attend the appointment and explain the results.

Our friendly staff will discuss your hearing test results with you. We will use an audiogram, graphs and other visual models to help explain your results to you.

A report of the hearing test results can be forwarded to your doctor, employer and/or insurer if needed.

If hearing devices are required, there will be no pressure for any of our clients to make a decision on the spot. We offer free hearing aid trials and the best advice to help you make an informed decision.

 For any Hearing Health Assessment, we require you to complete a form regarding your hearing history.
